Great HR Software for Small Businesses

Komentarze: Overall, this is a great HR application for small businesses. There are a lot of very useful out-of-box features available, and the pricing model doesn't change if you are under a certain number of users so there is room for growth without continuously increasing your costs. Compared to other HR applications we researched, this was the most user-friendly for the best price. If you are looking to automate some of your HR work, I highly recommend implementing BambooHR. It has greatly improved the organization of our HR processes.

Zalety:

BambooHR is an easy to use and very comprehensive HR software that offers a lot of valuable and high-use out-of-box features. Our initial primary uses of the software were aggregation and consolidation of personnel information, PTO tracking, and general communication of company announcements to the team. As we got further into the product offerings, we also began to heavily utilize the onboarding, offboarding, and recruiting features, all of which were previously done using very manual processes. BambooHR allowed us to discontinue using spreadsheets and other manual forms for very common and basic HR functions, while housing them under one roof. It also provided our employees with a easier way to contribute to their own personnel profiles, and while as request and track PTO.

Wady:

To properly utilize BambooHR according to your companies specific HR processes, there is a lot of individual and time-intensive setup involved. The platform is fairly customizable, but only if you are willing to invest significant time into configuring the features. While we expected a significant time investment into setting up the application, we were disappointed to learn that we would not have a dedicated account manager to help us with the setup process. We had to learn everything about the platform on our own through the BambooHR help portal, or by calling the customer service number and waiting for a representative to be available. We also experience a price increase only a few month after signing up for the service. We were also disappointed to learn that the integrations with Google and Slack are very limited, and while some information can be passed between the systems, we needed to customize some of the API calls in order to share more useful information with the team. There are definitely some limitations to their integrations.

Awesome Experience!

It made our onboarding seamless and we saw increased applicants because of the ease of the hiring process.

Wady:

We have liked everything so far. There are a few reports that would be helpful for us to have, but nothing that is keeping us from a solid operation.

Unethical pricing practices, poor customer service/poor treatment of loyal longstanding customers

Zalety:

They made the administrative side of HR so much easier for us. Easy tracking, automatic reminders, clearly display everything to staff, conduct performance reviews, onboarding and offboarding simplified. All great. Really helped our business get to the next level with staffing. We were so deeply upset when their business practices forced us to find a different product.

Wady:

After almost 4 years as a loyal customer, they restructured their subscription packages moving us from top tier to mid tier and moving some of the add-on features we were paying extra for into the top tier. At that point they told us that unless we upgraded with a 75% price increase we would no longer receive upgrades to those features. The point of subscription software is that we are paying for the continual development and upgrades. It is totally not ok to force existing customers to pay monthly for legacy software. I tried to negotiate with them and ask for some kind of compromise, like grandfathering us into top tier only for those features or perhaps a discount on top tier for a period of time. They absolutely refused to work with me, straight up refused to let me talk to a manager, insisted that I had to take the full price increase to retain updates for the features I'd already been using for years. When I told them that was a terrible way to treat a loyal customer and that I would take my business elsewhere they were fine with it. Perhaps because we are a small business, they don't see it worth their time to keep us as a customer. I would warn everyone away from BambooHR as you can't trust the prices they tell you you'll pay. Unreliable, predatory, and awful way to treat loyal customers. From a company that preaches about treating people well from an HR perspective, they sure don't understand how to treat customers.

Creating Structure with Bamboo HR

Komentarze: While we've been using Bamboo HR for nearly two years, we have yet to fully utilize all of their features. I look forward to scaling our Centre with the confidence that Bamboo HR can scale with us.

Zalety:

The ability to quick implement a robust human resource information system, providing structure and stability to organizations who otherwise may not have the resources to create similar systems on their own.

Wady:

Largely, the cost of add-ons and customization for small, non-profit and charitable organizations. However, the per-person cost does help keep things reasonable, we just have difficulty scaling to receive the discounts of larger organizations.

Pleasant to Use

Komentarze: Overall, Bamboo HR was a pleasant payroll tool to use compared to ones I have used in the past. I would definitely recommend over tools such as ADP or Paylocity. I like their color scheme and font choices as well; it was easy on the eyes.

Zalety:

-The user interface is easy to navigate. -It's easy to tell how much time off I have used throughout the year and what I have left to use, instead of trying to manually calculate. -I like how they have the option to use the platform as a place to record performance and goals. No need to log onto another platform. -I like that there's a company directory so that I can find the names of people I need to talk to, rather then relying on Microsoft Outlook's finnicky contact cards.

Wady:

-I don't like that there's a way to see who is out of the office and when for the whole company. This seems like an invasion of privacy and it should be limited to those who work in your team. -I think the file organization could be better. I had a slew of documents I signed when on-boarding, but I could not find all of them again in the platform once I officially joined the company.

Komentarze: I use BambooHR every day to punch in and out for my shift. I also use BambooHR to submit time of requests and self-assessments/coworker ratings for reviews. It stores many important documents relating to my employment.

Zalety:

I like that BambooHR has a mobile app. The app is very convenient because you have all of your documents at your fingertips.

Wady:

Sometimes the app glitches and I have had a couple of mistakes on my timecard because of it.

Komentarze: I like how employees can punch in for the day, check their PTO, know who is off for the day. Its all in one place and easy to navigate.

Zalety:

Bamboo HR is user friendly. The site is easy to navigate. I like the calendar feature. It helps with knowing which staff members are off.

Wady:

I would say overall I have no complaints with BambooHR.

Zalety:

Design, user-friendly, easy of use, easy to set up.

Wady:

Would like file signature to work differently. It would be great if forms were available to all employees to just fill out and then it would move through the pre-set approval process. Not require a form to be emailed by a management member to someone or themselves to fill out. Would also like training to be more robust and have more function. Especially would like to see training assignments as of a specific date entered rather than hire date. Would also like employees not to see future trainings until 30 days before the due date. Seeing annual training all year is confusing to them and they get desensitized to seeing that training and ignore it when it comes due again.

BambooHR perfect for small to medium sized businesses

Komentarze: Bamboo is constantly listening to what customers want and need and are expanding with incredible features all the time. I have worked on many HRIS and this is by far my favourite! I am a very happy Bamboo customer. Thank you for all your great work. You have an incredibly talented group of employees.

It is easy to use for the back end and front end users. The Support Heroes are always so friendly and helpful and I have never not been able to get the assistance I need when I need it. They are constantly listening to what customers want and need an are expanding with incredible features all the time. I have worked on many HRIS and this is by far my favourite! I am a very happy Bamboo customer. Thank you for all your great work. You have an incredibly talented group of employees.

Wady:

the performance management system could be a bit more customizable and robust. We have had to create a couple extra tools for managers and staff to use outside of this platform. Wish there were a few more features when rating the employees, based on their skills. I do wish that the employee community was something we could purchase additionally and not bundled with other products we do not feel we need right now. Would love if the system integrated with Ceridian Payroll.. would make things easier.

Bamboo HR appreciated by employees and management

Komentarze: Really like using it. Simple, efficient and accurate!! Also - helps the employee have the access at their fingertips whenever they want to review. No need to call HR or wait til the office is open.

Zalety:

The flexibility it gives the employee to login wherever their job may take them, You don't need to go to a physical building to "clock-in" or out. Everyone has their phone.... so you can use it anywhere.

Wady:

For those that "forget" to clock in, HR can edit but sometimes I want to set a reminder to check ....time for if I should clock out. Part time help that never used to punch a clock does not always remember to clock in or out..... but again, they can have management manually add it.

Excellent software

Everything HR is in one place. Time clock, files, payroll & PTO. Excellent layout

Reports - Wish it had reporting that matched what we needed without customization.

Great application for Company Management

Komentarze: Overall, I really enjoy using it because it really enhances the relationship between HR and employees with any incessant need for direct communication and everything is tracked.

Zalety:

I like the ease of the application and how quickly you can request for leaves or look at other people on leave as well. I wish that we could put in our own color profile as a personal setting, rather than stick to the one that the company has chosen. For example, HR has chosen the color orange, and I would like to change the color to Blue as a personal setting.

Wady:

I would like to see different views available for people on leave. For example, within teams, I would like to see that a person has blocked off a day for an annual leave and can't apply on that day because it's already taken by somebody else. It helps employees under teams recognize that another team member might be out that day and they may not get an approval. I would like to see flexibility on the way hours are plotted for a workday. For example, within our company we have to use percentages like 0.25 to describe a quarter day and because we have an 8-hour workday sometimes we need to take leave for only 1 hour or 1/2 hour and there is a difficulty in plotting that as a leave.

BambooHR brilliant HR tool to start your business with

Komentarze: Overall, it is a great to for small companies that don't have too many resources to track time logging, vacations, sicknesses, direct reports, etc, and have quick analysis on the distribution both in terms of age, gender, location, etc.

The API to google calendar and the user friendly interface

Wady:

I'd really enhance the process to see review people time logging. It is hard to track on an overall basis who is missing, who has reported 'x' or 'y' hours so I can quickly check if that's is ok, etc.

Your Go-To HR Functions

Komentarze: Magnificent overall! I appreciate the fact that we can even use it for training, onboarding, looking for other files, tracking employees, their status and so much more. This is really a good tool to have.

Zalety:

I love BambooHR in so many aspects. But my favorite would be how it can be integrated into other HR Software Tools and job boards. My work as a Technical Recruiter is to hunt for the right candidate and it became easier to do so when we integrated BambooHR to other tools we have.

Wady:

The function of uploading the candidate's resume and manually entering the details one by one is pretty time-consuming. I am hopeful it will be better soon!

Komentarze: Love the ability to manage staff. I use it to plan for birthdays and anniversaries. I use it on a daily basis to manage attendance and providing documented coaching.

I love the ability to have centralized location to manage my employees. I use the program on a daily basis and use it to plan staffing.

Wady:

Minimal training resources to engage employees in conducting customer service business objections.

A great tool for people and employment management

Komentarze: we've been using BambooHR for over 6 years, overall very satisfied with the product. It makes our team collaboration much easier. I just wish it can be integrated with other payroll system such as ADP.

Zalety:

Very user-friendly, easy to explore and find the functions, not much training is needed. I also like the fact that we're able to customize the reports we need.

Wady:

The notification feature is not very flexible. For example, we're able to get the notification when there's a addition or termination. but can't get one if there's an internal transfer. therefore we have to notify other teams out side of BHR.

Bamboo took us to the next level

Komentarze: It's been great. The few times we couldn't figure something out ourselves, Bamboo has excellent help documents and Bamboo's support is quick and extremely helpful.

Zalety:

It's convenient, well organized, helps us meet compliance requirements and provide better support to our employees. Love the performance management tools and the employee satisfaction surveys.

Wady:

Not really a con, but took us a couple of tries to get onboarding process perfected.

Good value for small companies

Komentarze: Overall, BambooHR is a good quality solution at an affordable price. Just know going into it that you're not getting the top of the line system with all of the customizations and bells and whistles of other software. They're rolling out updates all the time so I'm hopeful that it will continue to improve over time.

Zalety:

BambooHR is relatively easy to implement - not overly complicated. Some HRIS companies spend 12 weeks on implementation but BambooHR's implementation process is based around 5 or 6 one hour phone calls and their implementation specialists do a nice job of walking you through everything. The system is simple and intuitive for our blue collar employees. It's an affordable HRIS solution for small to medium businesses who don't need a super robust platform.

Wady:

It's not as customizable as they make it seem. There have been quite a few functions that I expected that it would have the capabilities to do and I just get told "no, the system can't do that". They have good customer service response time but you're routed to anyone in the queue so there's no consistency of an Account Manager or dedicated support person. And their benefits administration solution is not nearly developed enough yet, in my opinion. If you're currently using a separate benadmin solution, leave it where it is until Bamboo has made some major improvements on their version.

Easy management system!

Zalety:

The thing I like most about BambooHR is that it is an easy place to not only store employee documents, reviews and information, but it is easy to access and navigate. We have some employees who are not as proficient in technology and they have picked this right up! You can also create any kind of report you want to for any category, which has been super helpful for us!

Wady:

When power editing employees on certain things, it does not edit only the employees who you have changed information for, but creates a new line for everyone.
