Wady:

Team engagement, but that's more on our end of the table. Perhaps a mobile app would make it easier?

Get serious about your objectives with Koan

Komentarze: Koan helped us focus around our objectives and key results like no other software has. We use this actively every week in an all hands where we walk through everyones weekly reflections and we also get an arena for immediate feedback with regards to our objectives, both within teams and on a company level. This has helped us become more focused and structured. As a team lead, giving personal feedback on reflections has been great as well.

Zalety:

After trying quite a few different solutions out there, we landed on Koan. It is the most feature complete with regards to doing Objectives and Key Results. Its full support for teams and the ability to create high level company goals and link these together from a lower team level is just a breeze. Love the ease of linking in general. Makes it a powerful way to align an organization with multiple teams. The weekly reflection part is super useful and the ability to constantly score our progress.

Wady:

Not too much to say on the con side; I do however miss a native mobile solution - but that might just be me. We're a software development company and we'd also love to see how we could link our OKRs to our roadmap, and perhaps even fully integrated.

Komentarze: Koan is very easy to work with. One time I asked for help understanding advanced features and I got connected to the [SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN] and he was EXTREMELY helpful to me.

Zalety:

It allows our teams to easily update "reflections" weekly in a way that helps with individual compliance. It facilitates our entire OKR process so that we are able to track and rate OKRs real time each week.

Wady:

Happy with the features of the software. Software updates have been very good at advancing the functionality of the service.

Works well for OKRs and Weekly Status Checks

Zalety:

Clean interface, easy to use (attention keyboard shortcuts is much appreciated) when entering in my weekly status, love reminding me of what I entered from the previous week, a place for a gif at the very end;

Wady:

The navigation is probably my least favorite. I have a nav bar that includes our high level company, below that "All Teams", below that "All goals", and then my teams (of which I'm only apart of one). There is also a header with duplicate links that also navigate to several pages, but not all. Cleaning this up would improve the experience and finding things easier. Possible area for growth, our company overall has OKRs in formats that are all over the place. That is more on us to figure out, but Koan could provide tips on how to write an Objective (inspirational) vs an KR (measurable), etc.

Awesome tool for teams committed to the OKR framework

Komentarze: It has allowed us to really focus our efforts on hitting our key corporate objectives.

Zalety:

Really easy to post weekly updates and gather team feedback on what OKRs are at risk or on track. Weekly trend analyses are great. Team only views allow teams to focus on what is important to them.

Wady:

OKRs are not just software enabled. It would be interesting to see more support on what makes a good OKR. That may be the role of a consultant or integrator.

Perfect OKR tool for med-sized companies

Komentarze: We got strategic and tactical team alignment in just a day. Right now the concept of OKRs brings us real value. And there was no need to teach employees how to use it as it was super-intuitive.

Zalety:

The ease of use and user flow is just marvelous. We easily implemented a tool and moved away from spreadsheets. And it has the set of functionality that covers most of our needs (even lightweight API integration)

Wady:

Still, we miss some customization features that are unique to our processes and cadence

Komentarze: Absolutely wonderful. In particular, the customer service response is both immediate and extremely helpful.

Zalety:

The visualization, the layout, the options and features. Excellent all around, and new features rolling out all the time.

Wady:

Probably the cost. It's good for small to medium businesses, but at our size we end up looking at the cost per employee and with everyone going SaaS, costs pile up. I wouldn't necessarily recommend this change, as the value is there. It's just a particular pain point for us at enterprise scale.

Zalety:

KOAN allows me to stay connected to the multiple teams in my organization on a weekly basis. The reflection questions allow us to gauge our progress, recognize and celebrate one another and ask for help as needed. My favorite feature is the ability to customize reflection questions to bring a more human element to the team. These allow us to really get to know one another and creates a sense of community and belonging. Koan's customer service is amazing and it's easy to get up and running in minutes.

Wady:

I don't use all the features but appreciate that they are there when I want them...

Makes life easier

Zalety:

I love that our weekly updates no longer live in email and are now in a tool where updates are stored over time and easily shared across the team. It's also made it easy to cut down on meetings by making it incredible easy to do an async standup two days a week. Support team is also great, they are quick to answer any questions and provide help.

Wady:

A few minor issues getting the slack integration working at the beginning, but nothing significant and the support was outstanding.

Ease of Use and Informative Product

There are many amazing benefits to KOAN. I tis extremely easy to setup and use. I am on a team with about 40 to 50 other team members and I love that I am able to go in and look at weekly updates from my individual team members and the department as a whole. It links in with our personal and team OKRs which provide additional support and guidance for us to reach our goals. May seem minor but the fact that each week I get a reminder that my review is due is awesome. I work in a very busy industry but it is important to stay up to date on our weekly reviews. And final area that is absolutely the cherry on top for me is that fact that each week it provides reminders of what I listed as my to dos from the week before so I can check off what I did do and then if there is something I missed I can add it to my next week's items to complete. Overall, the product is very beneficial and I would recommend it for an team who values working together to accomplish their goals.

Wady:

Honestly, I have been using the software for 6 months and I have not found anything that I dislike about the software.

Koan - a great tool to facilitate asynchronous up and downstream communication

Komentarze: I love it. It's light and easy to use. It's so simple to tell my boss (and their boss on up) what they need to know about my team. That weekly status update takes minutes. I can also browse the rest of my group and see what is happening. I'm looking forward to using Koan to help seed my yearly review as I use the tool to look back on my weekly accomplishments.

Zalety:

I can easily let my management chain know the status of my team's projects. I can quickly check how other teams are progressing. My group uses Koan to do a weekly update. All our quarterly objectives are tracked as well. We also use the tool to raise visibility on issues that may complicate next week's deliverables.

Wady:

It works great for our use case. We don't use the Slack integration yet but I think I'd like it.

Best one to get started with OKR

Komentarze: The most important thing KOAN is solving is giving everyone in my company a focus - a kind of company dashboard - and also a kind of priorities - if it is not helping you close your KOAN goal then you are doing wrong.

Zalety:

Simple interface and focus in getting started with OKR - almost every other software that I researched were either bloatware or trying to do too many things (and hence confusing).

Wady:

OKRs are probably the most trending and least understood topic in the management today - and every body is interpreting it in their own way - I think couple of content around OKR (which is based on KOAN OKR philosophy) and few webinars for the teams would be awesome.

Useful way to orient team toward goals

Komentarze: Our team loves this software. It's the right balance between gathering the information needed to make decisions / vs. / not being difficult and annoying to use. Fully recommend to any startup team with rapidly changing goals as a way to keep team pointed in the right direction.

Zalety:

Weekly cadence and OKR format is great. We used to use spreadsheets to manage our OKRs, and this is such a better interface, plus provides detail and progress updates in a way that's easy to monitor. Our team has gotten a ton of value from this tool.

Wady:

I think there are several features that would be great to add - namely more around feedback (ability to give peer/upward feedback, respond to feedback from supervisor) and mobile interface (currently somewhat difficult to fill out reflections on mobile).

Komentarze: Overall I like Koan and would definitely recommend it, especially compared to much heavier tools that essentially do the same thing.

It's nicely designed, easy to navigate, and very lightweight. It doesn't require a lot of time to fill out your updates each week, and it makes it easy to see what's happening across your team and other teams in your organization.

Wady:

I would have liked the ability to customize email reminders more granularly, in order to match my preferences for when and how i fill out my weekly updates.

Zalety:

The user interface looks welcoming and is supportive. Koan supports our ScaleUp and OKR process very well, it is a real help to get us going. The "Weekly reflections" are also a great asset to foster the right kind of thinking.

Wady:

It took me a moment to understand all the features but that was not much of a problem. The friendly email reminders to do the weekly reflections can get a little annoying but I guess that is on purpose...

The ease of use encourages me to submit my weekly Koan reflections, rather than daunt them. The most important part of this software is accountability - Koan makes me accountable for my tasks.

Koan makes team management easy!

Zalety:

Quickly and easily see what your team has accomplished last week, what they plan to accomplish next week, and what is blocking their progress. Way more complete than a standup and allows other team members to see and interact with the updates.

Wady:

I wish it was easier to roll my direct reports' updates into an update to pass upward. I only seem to be able to roll my team update upward easily.

Koan Is my Go To Platform
